Bernard Grech’s father, John, passes away

Sunday, 18 September 2022, 10:58 Last update: about 3 years ago

The father of Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech, John Grech, has passed away.

He was 90 years old.

The news was shared by Grech on his Facebook page on Sunday morning, with the PN leader having already shared last week that it was difficult seeing his father getting weaker and weaker every day.

“How are you, Pa, I always used to ask and he would always reply “I’m well”. I never knew of him complaining, I never knew of him telling me “I’m not well”, Grech wrote in his post.

“A week ago when he was already feeling like his life had arrived at its end, I asked him ‘how do you feel, Pa’, and he – barely strong enough to speak – answered me: ‘better’,” Grech continued.

“Now you’re definitely better.  Now you can rest.  Now you can enjoy the eternity of love which you always put into all of us,” he said.

In a statement, the PN expressed its condolences to Grech and his family and said that it would be offering all the support it can in these difficult moments.

The PN also said that political activities planned for Sunday – which included a political meeting in Naxxar – had been cancelled as a result.

In a statement, the Labour Party also offered its sincere condolences to Grech for the loss of his father.
