Government to continue its commitment for a more inclusive education - PM

Government has said that it is committed to achieve its goals on a more inclusive education in the country.

Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed a Summit on Education in New York, where the leaders of different countries spoke about their commitment to transform the education sector by 2030.

Abela said that the Maltese Government will follow implementations from the National Inclusion Policy with the aim of leaving more positive results until 2030.

"Education in our country is inclusive from every aspect because it focuses on providing equal access to everyone. Each of us should put access to quality education as a priority," Abela said.

He said that more inclusion measures are being implemented in the country's education system, while also having invested in the digital infrastructure to ensure that students have access to quality digital education.

Abela said that government will continue to invest in digital platforms and offer the best educational resources. He reiterated that as an elected member of the United Nations Security Council, Malta will prioritize literacy while continuing to work to safeguard the right to education.

Yesterday evening, Prime Minister Abela addressed the UN's LGBTI Core Group. The PM said that Malta is looking forward to welcome many people from around the world in EuroPride, which will be organised between 7 and 17 September next year.

He said that changes in policies and laws in favour of equality form LGBTIA persons was the result of work between the government and civil society, he said.

He said that Malta made great strides and is honoured to serve as a model for other countries.

He said that worldwide there is more to be done for LGBTIQ persons to benefit from civil rights.
