Italian navy ship Martinengo moored in Malta and open to the public

The Italian Navy Ship FREMM Martinengo entered the port of Valletta, Pinto Wharf and will be moored from 19th to 22nd September, the Italian Embassy announced in a statement on Tuesday morning.

The Federico Martinengo ship (F596) is the seventh Italian FREMM unit and the third in the GP, "General Purpose" configuration.

The unit, built in the Fincantieri plant in Riva Trigoso, was launched in February 2017 and subsequently transported to the Muggiano plant (La Spezia) for the completion of the set-up and the acceptance tests.

The ship’s design has adopted innovation and flexibility concepts, which enable ITS Martinengo to be deployed for the conduct of a wide range of activities’.

The Martinengo ship will be open to the public during the following times:

Tuesday 20th from 15.30 to 18.00

Wednesday 21st from 09.00 to 11.00 and from 15.30 to 18.00

All visitors on board are required to wear an FFP2 mask.
