Tuesday, 4 October 2022, 10:49 Last update: about 3 years ago

Labour MP Glenn Bedingfield has been appointed by the Prime Minister to oversee a review of the Standing Orders.

Bedingfield, a former Labour whip, will be coordinating the process leading to the drawing up of a process to adjourn the Standing Orders, the written procedure of the House of Representatives.

In a statement, the Labour Party said the government will be seeking to modernise the parliamentary system and changes to the Standing Orders will be another way through which Parliament can become more efficient.

The proposals, the PL said, will be looking at ball aspects and will later be discussed in other fora.
