There is a three-week waiting list for the drug-rehabilitation services offered by Agenzija Sedqa.

In reply to a parliamentary question posed by PN MP Claudette Buttigieg, Minister for Social Justice Michael Falzon said that there is currently a three-week waiting list for these services.

Falzon said that the point of first contact with the care services of Agenzija Sedqa within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS) is the Addictions Community Team (ACT) service.

He said that this is the starting point for every client who wants to eventually receive a residential rehabilitation service. The ACT service sees people who come forward asking for help in the community, as soon as they contact Agenzija Sedqa.

People who require medical rehabilitation are then referred to the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), where they would go through an assessment meeting in the presence of a social worker, a doctor, and a psychologist, who prepare a treatment plan for the client.

He said that the wait for this process is that of three weeks, from which point the client will begin to be monitored by professionals involved in their treatment plan and will be able to access other services offered by Agenzija Sedqa, including those of detoxification or residential rehabilitation, services for which there are is no waiting list.
