Gzira United registered their third consecutive win when they found the going easy against Sirens. This win meant that the Maroons are still unbeaten after six matches.

On the other hand the St Paul’s Bay outfit are still in search of their first win with only three points registered from draws against Floriana, Valletta and Mosta.

It was a dominant display from Gzira who were by far the superior team and merited the win and three points at stake.

The first chance of the match came Gzira’s way but Jefferson’s shot with the goal at his mercy went over the bar.

Gzira forged ahead on 11 minutes when off a corner from the left side, the Sirens rearguard failed to clear and there as on hand Luis Riascos who slotted the ball home.

This goal gave the Maroons more confidence and two minutes later they doubled their lead.  A perfect pass by Maia brought Luis Riascos face to face with Grech and the Gzira striker made no mistake.

Sirens went near midway through the second half through Tachikawa  and on the other end a Luke Tabone shot sailed over the bar.

Nearing the end of the first half an overhead kick by Tachikawa was saved by Zarkov.

The first minutes of the second half produced not that much chances with play restricted to the midfield sector. But it was Gzira who sealed the issue in the 65th minute. A long distance free kick was taken by Gabriel Bohrer and a beauty of a shot surprised Grech.

Seventeen minutes from the end of the match Sirens could have reduced the gap but a Kei Sano shot was blocked by the opposing rearguard.

Till the end Gzira kept the control of the match to register the third win on the trot.
