A 29-year-old man was seriously injured after he fell from the machinery he was operating in a scrapyard, on Tuesday at 10:30 am.

The police said that the accident took place in a scrapyard in Triq Valletta, Luqa.

The man is from Mali and resides in Senglea. After a preliminary investigation, the police said that the man fell off a piece of machinery which he was operating.

The man was given first aid by a medical team and was later taken to Mater Dei where it was certified that he was suffering serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
