Parents of students at St Albert school appeal for change of rector

A group of parents of students from St Albert the Great school have appealed for the college rector to be replaced, after stating that he 'instigated' a division between the teachers of the school.

The parents started off by saying that they have full confidence in the teachers, principle and staff of the school, but are alarmed at the situation that a group of teachers is being ostracised because of their opinions on the ongoing matter, that of Mario Mallia's dismissal.

"As parents we have and always will admire the professional conduct shown to our children by the staff of the school. Moreover we also have full confidence in the principle who although does not have the experience, has the necessary qualifications for the job."

The parents pinpointed the source of the problems to the direction the school is being pushed towards.

"There was a letter which stated that certain students who were protesting have been instigated by their educators. This is not only an insult to the students by stating that they are not intelligent enough to see right from wrong, but also to the educators."

A generation of children who are indifferent and not allowed to speak their minds is not what education should be about, the parents continued to argue. "Our children are being deprived of the right to an education in a serene environment and they are being punished for protesting it."

"The cause of all the problems faced by the school can be traced back to the philosophies of the rector. He allowed the situation to unfold in such a way and as parents we have seen this coming from our first meetings in Summer."

The parents claim that the rector tried to put some educators in bad light.

"That is why we require intervention from the Ministry of Education in order for the school to be brought back from the abyss it has been sent to," the parents said.
