Civil society group Repubblika has accused the parliament of wanting to forget the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

In a statement, Repubblika said that although the parliament constantly organises debates on everything, it has chosen not to host a parliamentary debate on this subject.

"The Maltese parliament considers the memory of the murder of a Maltese journalist for which the State of Malta was responsible, as something which must be cancelled," Repubblika said.

Repubblika also called out the public broadcasting station, saying it is not educating the public properly. Instead, Repubblika accused it of following the bad example of the Maltese parliament.

Last week, the European Parliament called for a debate on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Repubblika said that it welcomes this debate.

Repubblika expressed how it is committed to ensuring that Daphne's memory is not erased from the minds of the Maltese people. It stressed that it is determined to continue Caruana Galizia's fight.

This Sunday marks the 5th year since her brutal assassination.
