Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated a new pet food factory in the San Gwann Industrial Estate on Friday – a factory which was the fruit of €8 million in investment.

The company Pet Nutrition House is the first such animal food company to open its doors in Malta, and exports its products to a total of 70 countries.

During his speech, the PM said that such businesses are a crucial part of Malta's economic success, and that this is why the government continued to invest in them, not only for them to survive in the face of challenges but to also keep growing and changing with the aim of being more innovative and sustainable.

Abela said the products being manufactured in this factory are pushing the "made in Malta" brand, because it attracts foreign investment on a daily basis.

Abela said that with a state-of-the-art investment, this factory is guaranteed to work efficiently and sustainably.

He said that the government's goal is for Malta to become climate neutral and that is why it is promoting sustainable models that reduce energy consumption and pollution.

Abela said that this investment reflects the government's vision for businesses in Malta, where they can venture into new sectors, invest in the sustainability of production whilst also offering quality jobs.

Pet Nutrition House is planning to add more workers in the near future together with 40 people it already employs.

Director of Pet Nutrition House Matthew Wismayer stated that the company's success is based on innovation, service excellence, and a quality product. He explained that against the facing international challenges we are living through, the energy subsidy from the government is an important element for businesses.

He concluded by saying that the investment made by the company, reflects their vision to continue expanding the range of products they offer in the local and international market.

Present for the inauguration were the Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli together with the Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri.
