Justice will be done when all those involved get punished – Repubblika

Saturday, 15 October 2022, 07:03 Last update: about 3 years ago

The admission by two men of their involvement in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia is only a small step towards full justice, NGO Repubblika said.

On Friday, George and Alfred Degiorgio were sentenced to 40 years in prison each after pleading guilty to their involvement in the crime. Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb on 16 October 2017.

Repubblika said that for justice to be done whoever was involved in the crime must be punished, including anyone who paid for the assassination, who knew about the plan and did nothing, whoever tried to cover up the crime and whoever caused obstacles to the investigation.

The NGO expressed gratitude towards the Caruana Galizia family for their sacrifices.

The NGO expressed appreciation for the work carried out by the prosecutor and his team, the investigators and the magistrates and judge who worked on the case.

Repubblika reiterated its commitment in search of justice and invited the public to join it in a protest march on Sunday.
