118 irregular immigrants were deported from the country in September 2022 alone.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri answered parliamentary questions on the deportation of irregular immigrants, as well as how many people were arrested upon knowledge that they were in Malta irregularly.
He said that in September 2022, 146 people from third countries were arrested after it was found that they were irregularly in the country.
PN MP Beppe Fenech Adami also asked the minister to disclose the nationality of each person who was deported from the country in the same month.
The nationalities of the persons who were deported were Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, Nepal, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Syria, Somalia, India, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Eritrea, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan and Senegal.
Camilleri also said that the people who did not stay in Malta and were deported left for Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, Nepal, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Poland.
