A mural dedicated to the memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia was unveiled at the University of Malta on Monday evening.
Journalist Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb on 16 October 2017, and the fifth year since her assassination was commemorated on Sunday. Two days prior, two men admitted to being the triggermen behind her death as their trial got underway.
The mural, which shows Daphne herself in front of typewriter which have typed out the words ‘I’d rather be hungry and free than well-fed and oppressed’, was unveiled by the University student council KSU just outside the University’s Quadrangle.
It was created by artists Amy Aquilina, Alessia Cacciatore, and Rasha Belle Zammit Cutajar.
KSU President Alex Gaglione and KSU’s Social Policy Officer Jeremy Mifsud opened the event, while Daphne’s niece Megan Mallia also spoke at the intimate event.
