The Government Whip gave no clear explanation as to why ministers failed to submit 2021 declaration of assets so far.

PN MPs Beppe Fenech Adami, Mark Anthony Sammut and Ivan Castillo on Wednesday all took turns asking why ministers' declarations of assets for 2021 were still to be tabled in parliament, with 2022's end just round the corner.

The only clear answer PL Whip Andy Ellul gave was that the Prime Minister, together with the ministers had no problems in submitting declarations, but did not provide a detailed explanation.

"This side of the House has no problem with submitting their asset declarations", answered Ellul to one MP.

When it came to Fenech Adam's turn to get answer, he was met with another question.

"How can you [Beppe Fenech Adami] come here asking about assets declarations?" Ellul then corrected Fenech Adami, who referred to Robert Abela as "your Prime Minister" and said that Abela is the Prime Minister of the country "with the biggest majority in history".

Earlier on Wednesday the PN has called on the PM to publish his declaration of assets and those of government ministers and parliamentary secretaries for the year 2021.
