PN calls on Prime Minister to publish declarations of assets for 2021

The Nationalist Party has called on Prime Minister Robert Abela to publish his declaration of assets, and those of government ministers and parliamentary secretaries for the year 2021.

"It is unacceptable that, when 2022 has almost passed, the prime minister has until now not presented his own declaration of assets, nor the ones of ministers and parliamentary secretaries in parliament, as he is obliged to do."

Abela, the PN statement signed by PN MP Karol Aquilina read, "is doing the same as Joseph Muscat, promoting a culture of secrecy and impunity by keeping information that is to meant serve to keep ministers and parliamnetary secretaries under public scrutiny and accountable for their actions, secret.

The PN stressed that declarations of assets  serve to uncover abuse of power and unexplained wealth, and are a tool against bribery and other forms of corruption, nepotism and conflicts of interest.

The statement said that this would be the latest time that such declarations are presented in Parliament. "In another unprecedented situation, Joseph Muscat had failed to present the 2016 declarations of assets in Parliament

The PN called on Abela to publish all his and his ministers' declarations of assets for 2021 and also publish the 2016 declarations of assets.
