Police inspections in Xewkija on Wednesday led officers to discover 10 person living in the country illegally, the police aid in a statement.

The inspections were carried out jointly with Trasport Malta and the Armed Forces of Malta.

Drivers were booked for driving without a licence and insurance coverage.

The 10 persons who were caught without the necessary documents were taken to a detention centre and the process for their deportation has started.

The police also caught a 30-year-old Polish man with a baton, pepper spray and a pen-knife. He will be charged with the offences.
