Gudja United's slump continued yesterday as they suffered yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Floriana.

After a brilliant start to the season, Gudja have now appar‐ ently lost their touch and are in evident difficulty.

For the Greens a well‐deserved victory, the the third one in the trot, a victory that lifts them over the same Gudja and their neighbour rivals Valletta.

Gudja had the first attempt at goal with a Navarrete grounder well‐saved by Kitanov.

Floriana took some time to settle down with, their first effort on 12 minutes through a Kemar Reid freekick that missed the target.

On the other end Gudja had a fast break with Vito Plut’s final shot again saved by Kitanov.

Floriana were unlucky on the half‐hour, when a Kemar Reid ling‐distance effort finished the upright.

Floriana were playing the be ter football now, and on 35 min‐ utes, took a deserved lead when Busuttil and Reid combined well with the ball finishing in Garzia’s path and the youngster easily beat Zammit with an angled‐ drive.

Floriana continued to dictate matters and doubled the score four minutes before the break, when Owen Spiteri beat Zammit after the referee had al‐ lowed play to go on instead of awarding Floriana a penalty.

On the resumption, Gudja found the going hard even though they tried to get that goal to come back in con‐ tention.

On 58 minutes they were rather unlucky when a Selemani dipper hit the crossbar.

12 minutes later, Gudja went close again but Samuel Da Mata missed a good opportunity.

With Floriana controlling their opponents, they sealed off the issue 15 minutes from time when Callegari pounced on a Zammit defensive blunder and easily slotted home.

Gudja’s final efforts proved futile as Floriana easily cruised to their third successive victory.
