Workforce in June was 5.5% higher than same month last year

The National Statistics Office (NSO) has released employment figures for June 2022, which show that over a period of one year, the workforce has increased by 5.5% and now has 253,662 persons.

The study showed that there was a decrease in registered unemployment of 757 persons.

Full-time registered employment has increased by 5.9% (13,980 persons). The workforce mainly increased in the accommodation and food services activities, and the administrative and support service activities.

The private sector saw an increase of 13,908 persons in full-time employment and now the private sector full-time employment totalled 201,576 persons. In the public sector, full-time employment increased by 72 persons, and now the public sector full-time employment has reached 51,132 persons.

Part-time employment rose by 9.1%. This increase mainly came from professional, scientific and technical activities, and the transportation and storage sector.

The number of people whose part-time job was their main job increased by 6%, and now totals 33,533 persons. The number of part-timers who hold a full-time job increased by 11.9%, which amounts to 37,702 persons.
