After a two-year absence due to the global pandemic, the national New Years Eve celebrations returns to St George’s Square, Valletta. The celebrations will commence at 10pm and will continue until the early hours of New Year’s Day.

This was announced today during a press conference by Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici and Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) Chairman Jason Micallef.

Bonnici stated that this New Year’s Eve programme includes a list of exceptional local artists. This programme contains a musical variety and shall give the artists an opportunity to display their talents on such a large platform. During the past two years, we could not celebrate New Years Eve as usual due to the pandemic. But finally, the Maltese and Gozitans can once again enjoy this wonderful event,” concluded Minister Bonnici.

VCA Chairman Jason Micallef remarked that the Agency is once again hosting the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations ever staged in Malta. Mr Micallef stated that “After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we will all be looking forward to seeing St George’s Square full of life, entertainment and music to bring in the new year in style.”

Kurt Calleja and Band kickstart the celebrations at 10.00 pm, followed by The Brass House Unit led by Kevin Abela, together with an outstanding line-up of some of Malta’s top singers, including Aidan Drakard, Amanda Marie, Brooke, Gloriana Arpa Belli, Jasmine, Kevin Paul Calleja, Ludwig Galea, Owen Luellen, Ozzy Lino, Pawlu Borg Bonaci & Tiziana Calleja.

Just before the countdown, The Brass House Unit together with DJ Debrii, will entertain the crowd in Valletta and those who will be following the celebrations on local TV stations from the comfort of their homes. There will also be fireworks to welcome the New Year. Finally, DJ Drey will be closing the night.
