Former Enemalta financial controller Tarcisio Mifsud has been cleared of all charged of corruption in connection with the oil scandal nearly 10 years ago.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit delivered her judgment Thursday.
Mifsud, now 78, of Żebbuġ, was one of seven men who had been charged in court at the time over the oil procurement scandal between 1998 and 2003.
The prosecution had argued that Mifsud had received commissions from contracts awarded to French oil company Total.
Mifsud denied all the charges.
The charges were corruption, bribery and accepting commissions from Total, in their capacity of public officials.
Mifsud had been charged along with Alfred Mallia, a former Enemalta petroleum division manager and former member of the oil procurement committee.
Lawyers Edward Gatt and Mark Vassallo were defence counsel.
