The Nationalist Party accused the government of still paying €11,000 a month to former MFSA CEO Joseph Gavin.
In a statement on Friday, the PN said in the past it has asked Finance Minister Clyde Caruana to say why Gavin is still being paid thousands, and to also published his contract.
Caruana has failed to answer these questions, the PN said.
It has now been reported that Gavin, who resigned the past last summer, is still receiving €11,000 a month from taxpayers’ money. By March, he would have received €65,000 just to give a handover.
The government is not ashamed to send people to collect 10c in return for plastic bottles, but then is ready to pay thousands to selected people.
The Maltese people are daily fighting to keep up with the rising cost of living, and are making sacrifices to do so. Others are enjoying the benefits, the PN said.
The government should be more transparent in how public money is spent, the PN said.
The statement was signed by Jerome Caruana Cilia, spokesman for the finance.
