The Civil Protection Department (CPD), in recent months, has carried out earthquake-related exercises such as "simulations" and "intensive training abroad," Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said on Facebook on Wednesday.

"In the last few days, our country has felt several tremors. The Civil Protection Department maintains continuous contact with the Faculty of Science at the University of Malta regarding this," Camilleri said on Facebook.

On Tuesday evening, Malta experienced the 14th tremor in the last two weeks. This earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale.

This issue was also raised on Wednesday in parliament when PN MP Karol Aquilina asked Housing Minister Roderick Galdes what the government is doing to keep updated with the several tremors.

Galdes said that this question does not fall under his remit and suggested that he asked Camilleri.
