Matthew Guillaumier was again the toast of the town when his goal decided this match and kept Hamrun marching on towards their ninth title. It was a tight match with Hamrun having to do without defender Steve Borg with Mbong back into the fold with the Spartans and debutant Karl Holmberg being drafted in the second half.

The first minutes of the match were a balanced affair and midway through the first half Floriana threatened when Jan Busuttil made his way past three defenders but his shot was turned onto a corner by Bonello.

And on the half hour a free-kick taken by Ulises Arias was tipped into a corner by Bonello.

The Spartans scored what proved to be the winner on 65 minutes. An Ognjen Bjelicic free-kick was partially saved by Kitanov, with the Floriana goalkeeper blocking once again on Mashike but in came Matthew Guillaumier who hammered the ball home.

Four minutes later Hamrun could have increased their lead when Matthew Guillaumier played a perfect pass towards Roko Prsa who with only Kitanov to beat saw the Greens goalkeeper save his effort.

Fifteen minutes from the end Floriana came near to draw level when a Veselji shot beat Bonello but there was on time Callegari to clear the ball into a corner.
