An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car in a traffic accident in St. Paul’s Bay.

A police spokesperson told The Malta Independent that they were informed of an accident at 2:20pm in Triq San Pawl, close to Xemxija in St. Paul’s Bay.

The victim, a 90-year-old man, was hit by a Peugeot 208 which was being driven by a 47-year-old man from Hamrun.

An ambulance was on site, but the man was declared dead on the spot.

The road has now been closed for traffic in both directions.

Duty magistrate Charmaine Galea is leading a magisterial inquiry, while police investigations are also ongoing.
