A story by The Malta Independent regarding a pothole in Mriehel which caused multiple punctures has triggered a series of comments about many other large potholes drivers should be aware of.

The potholes have emerged following last week’s storm Helios, with damage caused to the surface of many roads all over the island.

Apart from potholes, walls on the sides of some roads have also fallen onto the tarmac.

On Monday evening, multiple drivers had their tyres ripped as they drove over a “massive pothole” near Mriehel flyover. The Malta Independent reported that many drivers were upset about the costs that this damage would entail

Other drivers commented about other potholes that drivers should avoid:

There is a pothole in Fleur de Lys Birkirkara further down from the Juventus club, one in front of the cemetery in Marsa, a massive one in San Gwann and Kappara, Swieqi was described as a “complete mess,” before the roundabout of Luqa, one next to the Hal Lija cemetery, and one in Hal Balzan next to Costa coffee. There are other potentially dangerous ones in Xemxija Hill, St Paul’s Bay and next to the Paceville traffic lights system.

Questions were sent to the Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ministry.
