A man from Poland was arrested at Malta International Airport on Sunday after he was found to be carrying four kilos of heroin, the police said.

The man, aged 45, had just arrived on a flight from Frankfurt.

He was stopped following a tip that he was carrying illegal substances.

Police, and Customs officers, opened his luggage where they found the drug, which has a streetvalue of €150,000.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry.
