A woman was grievously injured after she was hit by a car in Birzebbuga on Thursday, the police said.

The accident took place at 6.30pm in Church Square.

The 60-year-old woman, from Birzebbuga, was hit by a Mazda Demio driven by a 59-year-old man of Zebbuga.

She was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
