A car caught fire inside the Santa Venera tunnels on Monday afternoon.

A police spokesperson told The Malta Independent that the car caught fire at around 3:50pm inside the Santa Venera tunnel which goes towards Msida.

A spokesperson later confirmed that there were no injuries in the accident, and that the tunnel was reopened to traffic by around 5:30pm.

The spokesperson said that officials from the police force and the Civil Protect Department went on site to control the scene.
