Two people grievously injured in two separate accidents

A motorcyclist and an electric scooter rider were hit by cars in separate traffic accidents, and both suffered grievous injuries, the police said.

The police were informed of an accident on Hal-Luqa road, Paola at 8pm on Saturday.

When the police arrived on the scene they found that there had been an accident between a motorcycle driven by a 45-year-old man from Ta' Xbiex and a Toyota Hilux driven by a 28-year-old man from Ħaż-Żabbar.

The driver of the motorcycle received medical assistance and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was later certified as having grievous injuries.

Another accident took place on Sunday morning at 5am, where a 17-year-old from Spain suffered grievous injuries as, while riding an electric scooter on George Borg Olivier Street in St Julians, he collided with a Toyota Platz driven by a 48-year-old man from Naxxar.

The young person was given medical assistance and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
