Parents can visit their children at the Neonatal Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) at Mater Dei, after 1.30pm as one of the last Covid-19 measures remaining in force has been removed.
The NPICU is the intensive care unit for new-borns and children under the age of three.
The news was announced by Health Minister Chris Fearne, in coordination with the Superintendent for Public Health, in light of the removal of measures to prevent COVID-19.
The NPICU cared for 449 babies during the year 2022, a statement released by the Health Ministry said.
It added that around 97% of babies fully recover following the “excellent care given in this ward by doctors, nurses and health professionals.”
Health Minister Chris Fearne carried out a visit to the ward to see the work that the staff carry out.
