A woman was seriously injured on Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident on Ta’ Xbiex, the police said.

The accident took place in Princess Margaret Street at 2.15pm.

The woman, aged 48 of Naxxar, reversed her Volkwagen Polo car onto a Suzuki Alto, which was parked, and ended up crashing into a bus-stop.

The woman was given first assistance by a medical team before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was found to be seriously injured.

Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi is leading an inquiry.
