Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg paid a courtesy visit to the Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean (MCP Med TI).

Minister Borg was shown the facilities offered by the Training Institute and met with Head of the Regional Office for the Mediterranean of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Julien Simon, Head of the Institute Adrian Cooper, and the Institute staff. They discussed the Training Institute's unique added value, its main achievements to date and the long-term vision for the Institute and the ICMPD's Migration Capacity Partnerships.

Minister Borg stated that Malta was proud to have spearheaded the initiative as a promoter of true and mutually beneficial partnerships and of positive change in the Mediterranean together with the ICMPD and other partners. Currently, more than 20 courses are being held in this institute which are accredited with the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority and are carried out by specialised professionals from the same region where the same training is taking place. He reiterated Malta's continued support for both the ICMPD as a whole and the Training Institute in particular.

Simon thanked Minister Borg for this visit.

The Training Institute is funded by Malta, Denmark, Austria and the European Union and is located in Floriana.
