A diver has died after finding himself in difficulty while on a dive at Cirkewwa on Wednesday, the police said.

The diver, a 50-year-old man from Israel, was taken on shore by people who were with him.

He was given medical assistance and taken to hospital where he died some time later.

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading an inquiry.
