Restoration and maintenance works have been carried out on the façade and roof of the Fgura Parish Church, which required immediate attention.

The work took place through a collaboration between the agency Community Malta and the Department of Public Works, where work was carried out on all of the façade and a liquid membrane was applied on the roof of the Fgura Parish Church.

Through this collaboration, Community Malta, which falls under the Home Affairs Ministry, funded the purchase of the necessary materials, while the manual work was carried out by the employees of the Department of Public Works, which falls under the Planning Ministry.

This work follows recent work that was carried out in collaboration with the Fgura Local Council which repaired the foundation and the interior of the church.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri spoke about the importance of carrying out works on churches, like the one in Fgura, which safeguards the heart of the Maltese community.

Camilleri said that he was satisfied with the commitment Community Malta showed in providing the necessary assistance and support wherever needed. He added that in a few days, another restoration project will be inaugurated at the Capuchin Church in Floriana.

“We need to ensure that with the resources at our disposal, we take care of everything that is for the well-being of Maltese and Gozitan communities so that we always leave a better environment for our communities,” Camilleri said.

Planning Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi thanked the Project Implementation Division within the Department of Public Works for coordinating this work.

“Thanks to projects like these in our community centres, the Department of Public Works is providing support to Local Councils and various entities to carry out renovation and maintenance projects. As a government committed to utilizing all available resources, we continue to work to preserve our architectural heritage, including modern structures like the Fgura Parish Church,” Zrinzo Azzopardi said.
