A man who was riding pillion on a motorcycle was injured in a traffic accident on the Coast Road on Monday morning.

Police said that an accident happened between a Toyota Hiace – which was being driven by a 34-year-old man from Mali who lives in St Paul’s Bay – and a Peugeot Tweet motorcycle.

The motorcycle was being ridden by a 43-year-old Italian woman, while a 43-year-old Nigerian man who lives in Sliema was riding pillion.

Police said that the Nigerian was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police said that its investigations are ongoing.
