63 total subjects were taught in this syllabus, including topics on ethics, diversity, Maltese legislation, rules and procedures, and even on crimes such as domestic violence, child abuse through electronic means, sexual offences, amongst others.

The Minister for Home Affairs Byron Camilleri told the new recruits that this day should be remembered as the start of a career filled with satisfaction through working for the benefit of local communities within the Police Force.

Minister Camilleri advised the new constables to remain honest and integral in their work and to also fulfil their duties with a sense of justice, empathy, and dignity towards all persons they interact with. He continued that the Government shall continue investing in them and their development.

Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà, who was also present, told the forty new constables that the profession they are entering is no ordinary job, though it is a career of commitment that includes trust and working with other entities, such as local ones like the Academy and the University of Malta, as well as foreign entities.

Gafà also told them to work through the values of the Police Force and to be the trustworthy actors that can bring about positive change in society.

The “PC Mark Farrugia Award” for the most distinguished recruit was given to Luca Mifsud.

Also present for this ceremony were the Commandant of the Disciplined Corps Academy, Karen Galea, the Chairperson of the Board of Disciplinary Forces Professor Raymond Mangion, and the Director of Studies Captain Reuben Lanfranco.
