The National Blood Transfusion Service has issued an urgent call for O Positive blood for today – Friday.

In a statement, the service said that “the blood reserve is critically low” for this type of blood, and “patients for operations and cancer patients may not receive the necessary blood in time.”

Other blood groups are also needed, the service said.

People may donate blood between 8am and 6pm, and transport is offered if one calls.
