Premier League: Greens keep marching on with third win

Floriana kept on the hundred per cent record when they registered their third win on the trot defeating Hibernians by two Kemar Reid’s goals.

It was a well deserved win for the Greens who are showing that they will be in the mix for honours.

Both sides went into this match on maximum points. Floriana defeated Santa Lucia 4-0 in their first match and continued on the same winning pattern beating Birkirkara by a 2-0 scoreline.

As for Hibernians after an easy 4-0 win against Gzira United they found the going tougher in their last outing when they defeated neighbours Santa Lucia by the odd goal in five.

After six minutes a Kemar Reid shot was turned onto a corner by the Hibernians rearguard.

Hibernians replied on 19 minutes when following a corner by Degabriele a shot on the turn by Fredinando Apap ended inches wide. Moments later Kone saved a Dunstan Vella effort.

Six minutes from the end of the first half Floriana broke the deadlock. Kemar Reid took control from the midfield area and following a solo run fired a thunderbolt into the corner of the net.

On the stroke of half time Hibernians went near to drawing level. Following a Bastianos corner from the left side a header effort by Apap hit the upright.

The second half was played under heavy rainfall and both teams failed to produce keep the same first half tempo.

On 55 minutes Jose Arias took hold of a free kick which was headed by Alexandros Kouro only for the ball to end on the roof of the net.

Twelve minutes from the end shots by Magri Overend nad Valadzko were blocked. With Floriana sealing the issue three minutes from the end once again through Kemar Reid whose low drive from inside the box found the corner of the net.
