Members of the Civil Protection Department this morning were involved in the rescue of a horse that found itself trapped between a wall and a prickly pear tree in Santa Venera.
Rescuers from the Hal Far and USAR fire stations on Saturday were deployed to rescue the horse, which broke out of her paddock and tripped, ending up between a rubble wall and the tree.
The animal was lifted out of its predicament with the use of a crane.
“She needed treatment for her injuries and removal of prickly thorns. The mare is safe and recovering well,” the CPD said.
