Enemalta has appointed engineer Ryan Fava as its executive chairman, replacing outgoing CEO Jonathan Cardona, the company said Wednesday.

Fava served as the company’s non-executive chairman since 2022.

The company said in a statement Fava will now also head the company’s management board “as it continues the implementation of the national long-term electricity network reinforcement plan”.

The move comes a couple of months after the government denied rumours that Cardona was going to be removed following the failure of the electricity network during July’s heatwave.

The company said Cardona will be relinquishing his post to embark on “a new career opportunity” following a handover period in the coming weeks.

An engineer by profession, Fava completed his studies at the University of Malta and Brunel University London, before serving in different engineering roles within the private sector.
