A boy aged seven was critically injured on Monday afternoon when the car he was in crashed into a parked trailer, the police said.

The accident took place in Triq il-Bacir, Paola, at 2.15pm.

A woman aged 51 of Zabbar lost control of the Renault Captur she was driving and crashed into the trailer.

With her in the car was the seven-year-old boy, who was seriously hurt.

The woman was also taken to hospital but her condition is unknown.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella is leading an inquiry.
