PL MEP Alex Agius Saliba has said that his nomination to be a candidate for the 2024 European Parliament election was unanimously approved by the Labour Party.
Agius Saliba is currently one of the nine Vice Presidents of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (The S&D Group) - the second-largest political group within the European Parliament.
Agius Saliba said in his online post, that he is "ready to work more humbly in favour of the best interests of our Malta and Gozo."
Aside from Agius Saliba, other nominations were brought forward for approval by the PL this week.
Economist Clint Azzopardi Flores announced on his personal Facebook page that he has just submitted his own nomination to the PL to contest the forthcoming MEP elections in June 2024. Azzopardi Flores thanked the Prime Minister and the PL administration for pushing him to contest while also thanking Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne, MEP Alfred Sant, and MEP Alex Agius Saliba for nominating him. His nomination is currently pending approval by the party.
