Bottom of the table side Sirens were close to snatching their first victory of the season when they were awarded an 88th minute penalty but Brazilian Rocha blasted high from the penalty spot and Sirens had to settle for a draw, their third so far this season.

The result leaves Sirens firmly at the bottom of the table with Naxxar still in a healthy sixth position.

Naxxar were over all the better team with the Sirens goalkeeper Cassar playing a blinder.

Cassar made his first save on ten minutes when he dived to save a De Carvalho effort from the edge of the area.

Three minutes later Sirens took the lead in their first attack when Degran Jackson connected well to a precise cross from Nicholas Pulis to drill the ball home.

Naxxar made an immediate re‐ action and almost levelled mat‐ ters on 16 minutes when De Carvalho crossed towards Edi‐ son Farias whose close‐range header was again brilliantly saved by Cassar.

Naxxar continued to attack but Sirens defended well and al‐ though under pressure Cassar was never called in action.

The second half had a rather slow start with Naxxar always having the upper hand but the Lions had to wait till the 67 th minute to go near an equaliser with De Carvalho missing a great opportunity in front of goal.

On 70 minutes Sirens went close with a Degran Jackson freekick well saved by Debono in the Naxxar goal.

Seven minutes from Naxxar drew level when Japanese im‐ port Yamaguchi fired home a beauty for a deserved equaliser.

Four minutes from time Sirens’ golden opportunity to claim victory when Asare was floored by Barbosa, but Rocha blasted over the bar from the penalty spot.
