Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne visits MaltaPost

On Monday 5 February 2024 ,Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection,Chris Fearne visited the MaltaPost Head Office in Marsa  to promote the EU grants aimed at incentivising the purchase of new electric vehicles , that provide a cleaner transport landscape.

MaltaPost is at the forefront to lower greenhouse gas emissions on the Islands. In recent years it has made significant capital expenditure to renew its vehicle fleet by deploying no less than 120 electric vehicles for its parcel and letter delivery service - a concrete example ofthe Company’s  committment to and respect of the environment.

During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister met  a number of postal employees who expressed their satisfaction on the performance and functionality of the vehicles. These are included in MaltaPost’s project to re-engineer the last-mile delivery of postal items, thereby increasing efficiency.

Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne praised the Company for its efforts in sourcing EU Funds to upgrade and expand its fleet of electric vehicles, thereby improving air  quality within the community. In this regard , the Company has plans to further expand its fleet of electric vehicles to eventually cover the whole of Malta and Gozo.

While thanking the Minister for his visit, MaltaPost chairman  Joseph Said  emphasised that with regard to its corporate social and environmental responsibilities ,MaltaPost prefers to act  by way of this and other initiatives, rather than to merely discuss the subject.
