A man has tragically died after he fell off a cruise liner which was docked at Valletta’s Grand Harbour on Wednesday evening.

The police said in a statement that the man – a 72-year-old American national – died after he fell off the cruise liner and into the sea at around 5pm.

The man was a passenger on the same cruise liner.

He was given first aid by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, but he was certified dead soon after.

Duty magistrate Charmaine Galea is leading an inquiry while police investigations are also ongoing.
