Man charged with stabbing his sleeping brother-in-law 13 times

A 63-year-old man from Paola today was charged with attempted murder, after allegedly stabling his brother-in-law, who was sleeping, 13 times.

Robert Frendo, was arraigned before magistrate Nadine Lia on Thursday morning.

Inspector Keith Rizzo said the Paola police station received a report of a stabbing on 20 February. Officers who were on the scene found a man who said that he had been attacked by his wife’s brother, who had stabbed him in his sleep.

Bail was not requested at this stage.

Police inspectors Kurt Farrugia and Keith Rizzo, assisted by prosecutors Ramon Bonett Sladden and Nathaniel Falzon from the Office of the Attorney General, are prosecuting.

Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Adriana Zammit are assisting the victim as parte civile.
