Balzan and Hibernains grabbed a point each following a dull match played at the National Stadium.

Both sides wanted to gain maximum points from this match with Balzan the most in need to avoid the drop zone which is becoming more complex. In fact this was the second consecutive draw for Balzan after last week’s surprise draw against Floriana.

On the other hand Hibernians though in a much healthier position have been passing through a roller coaster season. The Paolites were coming from a 1-1 draw against Birkirkara and their only aspiration is to gain a European berth after the elimination from the Izibet FA Trophy.

In the first round match between the two sides Balzan had emerged winners by a 2-0 scoreline.

The first half lacked action and it was only in added time that Hibernians went near when a Jurgen Degabriele shot sailed just over the bar.

The second half started on a better note though neither team set any bushes on fire.Just past the hour Hibernians threatened once gain when of an Akowuah cross in came Bagayoko but his header was flicked by a Balzan defender.

And eleven minutes from the end of the match the Paolites were unlucky not to take the lead. Bastianos set Radchenko but the latters shot hit the post.

The only thing that Balzan could account for was a chance on the stroke of time. A long distance shot by substitute Katanic was saved by goalkeeper Kone. And in added time another shot this time by another substitute Andrejic was once again saved by the Hibernians custodian.

A fair result from a match which practically never created enthusiasm to the few spectators present at the National Stadium.
