Transport Malta, in collaboration with the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works, unveiled the relaunch of financial incentives tailored to promote greener and more sustainable transportation options.

These grants, targeting owners of vehicles in Malta, serve to encourage the use of eco-conscious vehicles, driving us towards a brighter, more environmentally friendly tomorrow, in line with the government's commitment to environmental sustainability.

"Applications for these grants are now open to all eligible vehicle owners and can be obtained from Transport Malta offices or online through the Transport Malta website. This year, a total of approximately €17.3 million in grants will be available to the public, with €15 million allocated from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and €2.3 million from national funds. The grants cover a variety of initiatives aimed at promoting electric mobility and reducing emissions from the road transport sector."

These initiatives include financial incentives for the purchase of used electric vehicles, the use of LPG as fuel replacing petrol or diesel, the retrofitting of vehicles with emission-reduction solutions, the conversions of bicycles to pedelecs, and also the purchase of wheel-chair accessible vehicles to be used as taxis or Y-plate vehicles.
