Wednesday, 20 March 2024, 16:58 Last update: about 2 months ago

The applications for this year's edition of SkolaSajf opened on Wednesday.

This was announced during a visit by the Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research, and Innovation, Clifton Grima, to the San Miguel Resource Centre in Pembroke, where details about SkolaSajf 2024 were provided and the logo for this year was unveiled.

The theme for SkolaSajf 2024 is 'Life is my Adventure,' and the chosen logo was designed by Scarlett Schembri, who won the logo design competition for this year.

"SkolaSajf is an excellent service that not only is part of our vision and work to ensure that the education system reflects the realities and needs of the society we live in, but it is also a service that helps our children from a young age through alternative learning that aids them in their future lives," said Minister Clifton Grima.

This year, SkolaSajf will be provided from 55 centres across Malta and Gozo, between Monday and Friday, including 5 Resource Centres and 5 centres in Gozo. The service will run from July 10th to August 9th, and from August 19th to September 6th. While the regular hours for SkolaSajf are from 8:30 in the morning until noon, selected centres will extend this service to parents who work, from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and from half past noon until 5:30 PM.

Minister Grima described this service as a success story, with applications increasing year after year. While in 2020 there were 7,849 applications, last year saw more than 12,000 applications.

Through SkolaSajf, thousands of students are provided with an extended educational service, benefiting from informal educational activities including outings and sports games, among others.

Contributions to SkolaSajf from both the public and private sectors are also growing, with 71 entities participating last year, including private companies and Non-Governmental Organizations.

During the visit, three children who ranked in the top 3 positions in this year's logo design competition were presented with book prizes by Minister Clifton Grima."

Applications open from 20 March and close on 2 May, and people may apply at https://services.fes.gov.mt or at any servizz.gov hub.
