An elderly pedestrian needed hospital treatment after being hit by a car in Tarxien on Wednesday, the police said.

The accident took place in Tal-Barrani Road at 5.45pm.

The man, aged 72 of Santa Lucija, was hit by a Suzuki Swift driven by a 52-year-old man, also from Santa Lucija.

He was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
